The Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS, has embarked on training for their own senior military strategy planners who have to work in preventing, managing and handling post-conflicts situations in the sub-region.

The fourth batch of 10 senior military officials trained in the International War College in Simbock, Yaounde received their testimonials on Friday, July 18, after a two-week training seminar.

The Director of the International War College, Major General Ngambou Esaie who chaired the testimonial-award ceremony urged the officials to contribute in seeking lasting solutions to conflicts currently rocking the Central African sub-region such as the sectarian fighting in the Central African Republic and the endemic conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The senior officials are expected to serve as strategy advisers to decision-makers both in their respective countries as well as at the sub-regional level.

The Chief of Service for Training in ECCAS, Réal Romuald Mbida said the organization was working in partnership with training schools for the military, Gendarmerie and Police in the sub-region to train its own strategy planners to prevent and manage conflict situations as well as the post-conflict periods. He argued that senior military officials from the Central African Sub-region would better carry out the mission with maturity and professionalism. They therefore, have to serve in different operations in ECCAS member States whenever there is the need.
