The board of the International Security School, EIFORCES, Awae near Yaounde, has approved the institute’s budget for 2015. The amount, which was not disclosed to the public, is to enable the school complete its development plan this year.
The session, which held at the Yaounde Conference Centre, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, was chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o. He said with the approval of the budget, the school will step up it's training to meet the security challenges facing the country and Africa.
Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o recalled that EIFORCES’ three-year development programme, which began in 2013, seeks to give the school greater national and international visibility.
It is also to consolidate EIFORCES’ task of training security forces in peacekeeping and maintaining law and order, strengthening research in peacekeeping, and improving the institutional environment and conditions of staff. Worthy of note in this year’s courses is the one on detecting and deactivating explosive devices.
Specifically, the New Year will see the completion of an administrative block at Awae, the construction of hostels and classrooms, equipment of the simulation room and language laboratory, and the organisation of 12 courses.
Similarly, the school intends to put in place an audit system to boost its governance. Minister Mebe Ngo’o also talked about EIFORCES’ achievements in 2014, among which were the organisation from November 27-28 of an international colloquium in Yaounde on peace and sustainable development in the Central African Republic. On the other hand, some 40 senior staff received training in law enforcement and operational command strategy.
Among officials who attended the board meeting were the Minister of External Relations, Prof. Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Cameroon, Rajat Rochdi, and the Chief of Staff to the Head of State, Brigadier General Emmanuel Amougou.
