ELECAM: close to 160,000 potential voters registered

The Director General of Elections Cameroon- ELECAM, Mohaman Sani Tanimou has updated the press on the 2014 voters registration process.

He said 160, 000 potential voters have been registered during the current year.

Among the 160, 000 potential voters, 153,000 registered in Cameroon and the rest are Cameroonians of the Diaspora in 22 different stations in all.

In terms of sex, there are 91,000 men and 62,000 women. The 160,000 registered voters, he noted, add up to those of the previous years; making the total of approximately 6 million potential voters.

The Director General indicated that Elecam’s target is to get 8 million Cameroonians on the voter’s register by the end of 2018.
