ELECAM has set aside the month of March for massive registration of women on the electoral registers.
According to a press release from ELECAM, signed by the Director General, Abdoulaye Babalé, Elections Cameroon shall, from March 1 to 31, organise a special campaign dubbed “March: Women’s month, ELECAM targets Women.
The initiative, which will entail a “door-to-door campaign, is intended to boost the number of female voters and by so doing, satisfy the wish of everyone which is ‘more women in politics’ meaning ‘more women in decision positions’”, states the release.
In that light, the ELECAM Director General urges; “all women not yet enrolled on electoral registers, to leave a special imprint on the celebration of the 31st edition of the International Women’s Day, by enrolling in great numbers at the level of ELECAM Council Branch Offices or mobile teams deployed across the national territory.”
