Ambassador, head of Delegation of the European Union made a working visit 23rd to 24th October 2014 in several localities in the Western region.

During her stay, H.E. Françoise Collet took part, alongside the Cameroonian authorities, in the "first regional Conference of tourism" on October 23 which was planned by the Mayor of Bandjoun.

Subsequently, she exchanged with administrative and municipal authorities of the Menoua on the imminent launching of a project of 'Waste management' in this Department and that she will co-preside the official launching ceremony of Community Radio of Bafoussam II.

These projects are being implemented with the support of the European Union, and in particular a budget estimated at one billion CFA FRANCS CFA.

The "First regional Conference" on tourism had for objective the development of a master plan for tourism development in the Western region.

The initiative is carried by the Association "Roads of chiefdoms", with financial support from the EU. This support, since 2008, helped to initiate several actions for the safeguarding of the heritage, as well as many cultural and tourism infrastructure.

The assets of this project include the construction of the Museum of civilization in Dschang and Bandjoun and Bamendjida, heritage boxes for a $ 279 million CFA FRANCS.

From September 2012, the European Union renewed its partnership with the 'Route of the chiefdoms' Association as well as with the Communes and municipalities of the West, in order to strengthen the involvement of stakeholders. This second phase of the programme is funded at a cost of 450 million CFA FRANCS.

The Bafoussam II Community Radio, whose official launch took place October 24 was designed to contribute to the improvement of local governance in Bafoussam II, through the promotion of citizen participation, transparency and visibility on projects initiated by the municipality. The project is funded at nearly 300 million CFA FRANCS by the European Union for a period of 3 years.

The project 'Control the management, treatment and upgrading of municipal solid waste in the town of Dschang' is the result of several partnerships between the municipality of Dschang and the actors of civil society. The project will continue to improve the management of municipal solid waste service and develop new approaches to the financing of waste management.

The launch is scheduled for January next for a duration of 4 years. By these various commitments, the Union European reaffirms its willingness to be a strategic partner that knows how to listen to better meet the needs of people through collaboration with national or local civil society rulers or the private sector for Cameroon.
