Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o reiterates determination to combat Boko Haram

Receiving New Year wishes last Friday, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o reiterated the determination to combat the Islamist sect.

The ceremony was characterized by two speeches. On behalf of the civilian and military staff, lieutenant general, Chief of Staff of the armed forces, René Claude Meka gave a summary on the happenings in 2014, a year during which the Cameroonian defense forces faced threats at the fronts.

In the eastern part of Cameroon, because of insecurity in the Central African Republic with the incursion of armed bands and in the northern part with the atrocities of the Islamist sect Boko Haram from neighbouring Nigeria.

Each time, he said, the defense forces have been able to respond to these attacks on the integrity of the territory of Cameroon, "with professionalism, courage and determination." Fighting that were conducted through the means at their disposal by the president of the Republic, head of the armed forces, Paul Biya.

Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o speaking on behalf of the Chief of the armed forces, "a tribute to our forces, all ranks, for patriotism, effectiveness and the meaning of the sacrifice with which they are fighting back vigorously against the enemy, inflicting heavy losses in human lives and property damage" said Mindef.

Speaking to these men and women, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o translated the satisfaction of the Head of State: "the President of the Republic, head of the armies, H.E. Paul Biya has asked me to tell you all how much he is proud of his Army", reassuring, on the other hand, that ways will be made to enable them to continue to defend the territorial integrity of Cameroon with bravery.

On the presence of Chadian troops in Cameroon, which are placed as Cameroonian command, Mindef said that it is the result of the diplomatic offensive by President Paul Biya, to mobilize the international community to support Cameroon in this war against Boko Haram.
