Edjoa, Dr. Bitang to handle the Emergency Centre of Yde

Philemon Yang, Prime Minister and Head of Government has published on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, two decrees that name those primarily responsible for the Emergency Center of Yaounde (CURY).

The first decree appointed the first Director of CURY, Dr. Louis Bitang Joss , lecturer and former Director of the Hospital District Deïdo Douala.


This promotion will make the economic capital unhappy, where Louis Joss Bitang a Mafok was appreciated. Especially in the sports world where he who was also chairman of the committee that supports the general Cosmos Mbam for Littoral and Southwest regions where he has donated his time and generosity to treat athletes of all stripes in stadiums and within the hospital.


The second decree of the head of government appoints Thierry Augustin Edjoa as Chairman of the Management Committee for CURY. Five years after leaving government, the former Minister of Sports and Physical Education rebounds in a sector where his expertise in management will again be put to the test.


In the hospital setting, it is hoped that the appointment of these two senior officials serve as the trigger for the effective operation of the public hospital that was created by presidential decree of 04 July 2014, but the building of three storeys that will house the equipment and services CURY is out of the building for two years at a stone's throw from the hospital in central Yaounde.

In an old article by Cameroon Tribune, we learn that the new hospital, which specializes in the management of medical and surgical emergencies, is the result of cooperation between Cameroon and Republic of Korea. Construction and equipment cost both parties a sum of about 3.5 billion FCFA.


In the description of the large building of the hospital with a capacity to host 50 beds, it is reported that the CURY has on the ground floor, a reception room and hospital lift, an intensive care room, two resuscitation rooms, two operating rooms.


On the first floor is a special area for burns treatment and imaging area consisting of radiology rooms, X-ray and scan, a room for the installation of gypsum, a laboratory, pharmacy and hospital rooms.


On the second floor are mainly administrative services.
