Kousseri — Election material in the Logone and Chari Division has been dispatched to eight of the ten Sub-divisions, the Chief of Agency for Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) said in Kousseri on September 18.

The two remaining areas are Waza and Zina which are expected to receive their package latest Friday, September 20, Mahamat Ahamet told Cameroon Tribune in an interview. "Material destined for Zina will be transported in canoes", he said. Two Sub-divisions; Zina and Blangoua can only be reached through the use of boats, he said.

Despite the difficult access to some of the localities, ELECAM has been able to distribute over 96 per cent of electoral cards to voters. "Cards that have not been collected will be taken to polling stations on election day", the Chief of Agency assured. "Only voters whose names appear on the list and whose cards are available at the polling stations or who have their receipts with them, shall be allowed to cast votes", he stated.

The number of registered voters in Logone and Chari stands at 169,240. Cards belonging to all the deaths have been removed as well as their names from the list. Two political parties; CPDM and NUDP are running for elections in the Division with the latter fielding in candidates in five of the ten electoral constituencies for the municipal elections.
