Report sheets, stickers, lamps and ballot papers have been dispatched to 34 council areas in the region.
It is work, work and work in virtually all ELECAM offices in the North West Region, a few weeks to the September 30, 2013 twin elections. The Regional Delegation has been receiving and dispatching electoral materials. The Regional Delegate, Gaspard Nga told Cameroon Tribune that some polling booths, ballot boxes have been received from Yaounde and a good quantity has already been dispatched to the respective 34 council offices. The Head of Electoral Operations and Referendums, Peter Dinga Lang has also confirmed that all ballot boxes are already available in all ELECAM Council offices. He said among the lot received from Yaounde are batches for polling agents, stickers, ELECAM cloth for polling stations, report sheets, lamps, ink etc while more polling booths are still expected from the ELECAM head office.
Meanwhile, on the field, the distribution of voter's cards has intensified. At press time; some 350.053 of the total 490.891 cards received had been distributed, representing 71 per cent. Ngoketunjia division takes the lead with 80 percent, Donga Mantung, 74 per cent, Mezam 73 per cent, Bui, 69 per cent, Menchum 68 per cent, Boyo 65 per cent and Momo , 59 per cent.
ELECAM Regional Communications Officer, Colday Ndofekeh Olivier also told Cameroon Tribune that problematic voters' cards have been corrected and a more effective approach to ensure the distribution of voters' cards has been developed to include, door-to-door and face-to-face operations. In effect, ELECAM staff are on the field in homes, offices, business places, churches, markets, funerals, social groups etc to ensure that registered voters obtain their cards and get set for September 30, 2013.
