Engineers challenged to be practical

Dr. Mafany George has challenged engineering students to complete their studies and setup models that will move Cameroon’s semi-extractive industries to full scale industries.

He made the challenge during the School of Engineering's colloquium which took place on February 6, 2015 in Ngongi’s hall during the colloquium under the theme, “The Role of Engineering/Sciences in an Emerging Cameroon.”

Mafany George Teke informed engineering students and other participants that Cameroon would only emerge when students put to practice the knowledge they have acquired through out their study.

Speaking from the point of an economic geologist, Mafany George enlightened the students on the indispensable role engineers play in the exploration, production, refining and distribution stages within the extractive industry.

Throwing more light on how engineers could contribute to the emergence of Cameroon, the second speaker Dr. Sone Ekonde called on the students to work within their environment, be innovative, collaborative and to do reverse engineering; adapting innovation to their environment.

The colloquium is one of the many academic activities of the 2015 fair organized by university and the business arm CERI.
