A denial that comes six months after the disclosure of a rumor attributing to the former captain of the Indomitable Lions, for saving and financing for the renovation of the Embassy of Cameroon in the United States of America.

In October 2015, a rumor relayed extensively in the public sphere by the media was that the wealthy Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o, bought and renovated the office building of the Embassy of Cameroon in the United States as an offer to the leaders of his homeland. Six months after the consumption of this rumor, the Government decided to formally deny this information.

“The headquarters building of the Cameroon Embassy in Washington, was neither sold nor bought by a third party. It is and remains a property of the State of Cameroon, and its rehabilitation work is fully funded by the state budget of Cameroon. ” This is the development made by Le Jeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of Cameroon.

The Embassy of Cameroon to the United States of America, 44 years old, is under renovation works for about six years now. There was a time when, the outdated and very dilapidated state of its buildings had moved many Cameroonians.

The renovation work is progressing at a snail’s pace! Perhaps the arrival of Henri Etoundi Essomba, new Ambassador, appointed on April 11 by Paul Biya, the Head of State, will speed up the work.
