Executives of Three Councils to Be Re-Voted

The Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court cancelled results of the vote in Bonaléa, Mombo and Nkongsamba Councils.

The Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court ruling on petitions relating to the September 30, 2013 municipal election ordered the re-election of the Mayors and deputy Mayors of the Councils of Nkongsamba III, Mombo and Bonaléa all in the Mungo Division of the Littoral Region.

The ruling cancelling the previously elected executives of the three councils followed petitions contesting the elections and consequently calling for the cancellation of the election results. The petition calling for the cancellation of election of council executives in Bonalea Council was filed by Mpocko Ernest, that of Mombo Council by Esseme Martin, while Djomatchoua Antoine and Eyidi née Ebodiam Tchoumbi in two separate petitions contested the results of Nkongsamba III Council executives.

The Head of Unit of Litigations and Judicial Affairs in Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, Dr Ewang Sone Andrew confirmed the cancellation of results of the election of the executives of Nkongsamba III, Mombo and Bonaléa Councils. Talking to Cameroon Tribune on telephone, Dr Ewang Sone who led ELECAM's judicial team for oral submissions on the petitions said all the other petitions were rejected, withdrawn or simply declared inadmissible.

In all, the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court, ruled on 121 petitions either calling for the cancellation of the September 30, 2013 municipal election results and/ or the cancellation of the election of the mayors and deputy mayors of some councils. The rulings on the petitions took place from Tuesday, November 5 to Thursday, November 7, 2013.
