FCFA 700.8 billion accrued in 2014 as customs revenue

This information was given this Monday, January 26 at Yaoundé by Minette Libom Li Likeng on the occasion of the 67th international day of customs Festivities which took place at the Base air 101, Yaoundé.

This year's theme was: 'Coordinated border management', with slogan "the coordinated management of borders: a participatory approach for all concerned.

The objectives of the 2015 international day of customs revolved around increased efficiency at border services, the reduction of duplication, the strengthening of management risks, the decrease in the costs of transport and time as well as the decline of expenditures related to the improvement of infrastructure.

They also envisaged the strengthening of linkages between all actors involved at the level of the borders, the dissemination of information and intelligence, dexterity in targeting controls and the opening of the valves to the economies.

In Cameroon, customs revenues have elevated since 2008. And each year, the customs performance greatly exceeds forecasts. In 2008, the Cameroon customs administration reaped a sum of 443,455 billion FCFA, 2009 (468,672 billion), 2010 (528 billion), 2011 (547.5 billion), 2012 (595 billion), 2013 (595,8 billion) and 2014 (700.8 billion). It should be noted that with regard to customs, the Cameroonian model has become a reference.

Together with the World Customs community, the International Customs Day is celebrated 26 January each year in member countries of the World Customs Organization (WCO) in memory of the inaugural session of the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC), which was held on January 26, 1953.

The theme of the 2015 edition offered the opportunity to member countries to promote practices and coordination mechanisms established with other government bodies and customs administrations or economic operators involved in cross-border trade. In conjunction with the celebration, many staff operating on behalf of the Cameroonian customs have been promoted.
