FEICOM engages students to enhance local development As part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of the Local Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, the National and Foreign Press Observatory (OPEN) has announced a special edition of Cameroon Students Challenge (CSC).

The special brain trust which is being organized in line with FEICOM’s vision of getting young people focus their reflection on the theme of decentralization, was announced during a press conference yesterday.

During the conference, the director of cooperation, partnership, communication and archives of FEICOM, Susan Ngane just like the spokesperson of OPEN, Nta à Bitang and the CSC program adviser, Thierry Nguionza, was optimistic that the endeavour would play a great role in enhancing local development.

It worth mentioning that the Cameroon Students Challenge, placed under the patronage of the minister of higher education, is an innovative brain trust for knowledge and innovation amongst university students.

The Cameroon Students Challenge with motto as “Youths are Ingenious” , was designed for young people and has as objective to detect, valorize and promote bright, talented and ingenious students.

Just like the 1st edition of the competition which took place in Buea last year, projects designed for the competition has to go through certain procedures such as the administrative control, academic control before being evaluated by the jury for pre-selection.

FEICOM and OPEN are concerned with how students can transform their thesis to developmental tools. Hence, young people who research, innovate and create, are the driving force for the emergence of Cameroon with decentralization at the heart of major accomplishments.

The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM) will offer prizes, awards and bonuses and information concerning the innovative brain trust is available at FEICOM headquarters and regional agencies, in all town halls and at OPEN, officials said.

However, it is worth noting that the brain trust competition is open only to Masters Students and each council has the right to supervise just one student group.
