Faculty of Medicine, Yaoundé Univ. I graduates 253 stds

The ceremony for the award of diplomas to 253 students took place on Saturday at the Amphi 700.

The amphi 700 of the University of Yaoundé I was crowded Saturday on the occasion of the solemn presentation of diplomas to the laureates of the 39th batch in the Faculty of medicine and biomedical sciences (FMSB).

On this occasion, parents, friends and acquaintances, students and teachers came to celebrate with the 253 students, among them 117 general practitioners, 91 specialists (Psychiatry, Pediatrics, orthopedics, Neurology, etc.), 22 pharmacists, 20 dentists and three PhD in social sciences.

At this ceremony presided over by PR. Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of higher education, Chancellor of academic orders, accompanied the Minister of public health André Mama Fouda, the Minister for the advancement of women and the family, Marie Thérèse Abena Ondoa and the Minister delegate at the Presidency responsible for procurement, Abba Sadou, he expressed his pride to see them indulge in concrete actions in the hospitals and dispensaries after training for seven years.

The Rector of the University of Yaoundé I told them: "from this professional health title, you are now the guarantors of the life that you protect in accordance with medical ethics and deontology.

In the same perspective, the Dean of this faculty, Pr. Côme Ebana Mvogo, welcomed all the efforts made. "Sacrifice in the service of life, amounts to a grace", recalled by this quote of Albert Einstein.

The Minister of public health, meanwhile, welcomed that: "For the first time, we have psychiatrists, dentists, neurologists and orthopedic surgeons trained in Cameroon." Reflecting the Cameroonian Government's commitment to invest in human resources to improve the quality of care services.

At these modern times, they recommended competitiveness, professional efficiency, probity, availability day and night, stainless honesty for their radiation in hospitals and dispensaries.

And it is with hands full of gifts offered by the president of the Republic, Paul Biya, Cameroon first lady, Chantal Biya, the Minesup and the Minsante among other things, that the top winners saw their efforts rewarded.

Led by Prof. Akram Bidjogo, Secretary-General of the national order of doctors of Cameroon, the winners made a commitment not to ever betray the confidentiality of the patient through the Hippocratic oath.
