For some time, on the markets of our metropolises, regimes of plantain whose maturation was artificially induced are available to consumers without their knowledge.

In fact, when these ripe plantains are purchase, on the field, it does not seem as though they are not good. But immediately at home, after having peeled, you confirm that was not as ripe as the coulour portrayed. Worse still, it is hard and is really not what is expected in terms of color, sweetness and taste. More seriously, this plantain artificially ripened with chemicals presents a real danger to health.

According to approximate experts, the chemical used by these traders is "Mat" which replaced "Ethrel" in the phyto-sanitary markets. The active ingredient in this product is the Ethephon. This product is used in fields and the plant has all the time to destroy the toxic effect of the product on the fruit. When using this product to ripen plantain, there is misuse of the product, which is outlawed by the phytosanitary legislation because it represents a real danger to the health of consumers especially to those who love the fries.
