For the Minister of Higher Education, this demonstrates the willingness of Paul Biya to the digital economy, one of the components of the Cameroonian economy.
The Minister of Higher Education conducted on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, with the representative of the Sichuan Telecom Company Engeneering Construction Co .ltd, the signing of an agreement designed to extend the use of ICT by Cameroonian students.
This agreement materializes the “e-National Higher Education” program of which the framework agreement was signed on June 18, 2015 in Beijing by the Cameroon Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development and the Chinese Minister of Commerce (granting a concessional loan by China to Cameroon), we learn from officials at the Ministry of higher Education.
It is through the program “e-National Higher Education“, that the President of the Republic has decided to implement the project “a student a computer” giving a free laptop to every student enrolled in a public university or private institution in Cameroon.
“This is a special, one-off operation aimed at making available at the disposal of five hundred thousand (500,000) Cameroonian students of appropriate computer tools for stowage in the digital economy in universities“, indicates the communique.
An initiative that leases the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo. For him, this is the demonstrated willingness of the Head of State, Paul Biya, “to make the digital economy one of the components of the Cameroonian economy,” he told our colleagues of the CRTV radio at the end of the agreement signing ceremony.
In addition, through this futuristic program, each state university, including the Cameroon-Congo interstate University of Sangmélima, will be equipped with ultra modern university Digital Development Centre intended to provide a decisive impetus to remote education to digitize the university administration, in collaboration with academic networking, and secure interconnection of public and private universities of Cameroon.
Note that the computer donation component only concerns the academic year 2016-2017.
