Activities to mark the celebration of the Female Diplomat Day kick off tomorrow Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Yaounde.

Cameroonian female diplomats are gearing up preparations for the celebration of the Female Diplomat Day under the patronage of the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo and the aegis of First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya.

Organised by the Association of Women in Cameroon’s Diplomacy (DYFEDCAM), the day’s activities begin tomorrow Saturday, July 25, 2015 with a Sports Walk in Yaounde on the theme: “Female Diplomats behind the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya, for Peace”. This will be followed on Monday, July 27, 2015 by a symposium at the Ministry of External Relations on the theme: “The Powerful Rise of the Woman in the Diplomatic Corps in Cameroon”.

A multicultural exhibition will hold at the External Relations Ministry’s esplanade on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 as from 10:00 am before a gala night as from 7:00 pm at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel during which funds shall be collected for the acquisition of a medical ambulance.

Speaking to Cameroon Tribune, the President of DYFEDCAM, Edith Ondoua Ateba, said the celebration will be a moment to celebrate advances of the woman in Cameroon’s Diplomatic Corps.

Founded on November 21, 2000, DYFEDCAM is professional association whose membership now comprises over 400 female diplomats working in the central and external services of the Ministry of External Relations.

It aims not only at promoting gender consideration and insertion of female diplomats in high-profile diplomatic spheres but also grooms female diplomatic staff while participating in the modernisation of Cameroon’s diplomacy and strengthening solidarity amongst its members.
