The incident occurred on the 2nd October 2016 at Kika Village a locality situated at the Border with the Republic of Congo.

The Brigade Commander of the Gendarmerie for the East Region Paul Nseng Aka’a recounts that Narcisse Alex came across four illegal traffickers of elephant tusks who surrendered their bag and ran for their dear lives.

Alex Narcisse then picked up the bag and instead of reporting the case immediately to the Gendarmerie, he took the bag to his house.

The following day he told the Gendarmerie Forces that he had impounded four elephant Tusks from some illegal traffickers instead of eleven.

After a thorough search by the Forces of the Gendarmerie the rest of the Tusks were found in his keeping.

30 years old Narcisse Alex and another suspect are presently under detention at the Gendarmerie of the East Region pending further investigation meanwhile three other foreigners are still on the run.
