Final flight home for First Lady’s mother

Cameroon’s First Couple were at the Nsimalen Airport on October 13, 2014 to receive the mortal remains of Mrs Mboutchouang Née Ndongo Mengolo Rosette Marie.

Monday October 13, 2014, at exactly 5:45 p.m., a special plane bearing the mortal remains of Mrs Mboutchouang Née Ndongo Mengolo Rosette Marie, mother of Cameroon’s First Lady, touched down at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.

President Paul Biya and Wife, Chantal Biya were on hand to accompany Mrs Mboutchouang Rosette Marie as she begins her final journey beyond.

The atmosphere was gloomy and even the sky seemed to mourn the passing of an illustrious citizen through the heavy downpour witnessed at the airport.

Only the bright lights of Boeing CS-TFY plane seemed to illuminate the sky for this final home-coming of one of the most prominent daughters of Nanga Eboko in the Centre Region, and erstwhile Mayor of Bangoua, in the West Region.

As the door of the special plane opened upon arrival at the airport, the Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Martin Belinga Eboutou, husband of the deceased, Mr Mboutchouang, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Bidoung Mkpatt and other family members stepped out of the plane before the corpse of “Mama Rosette” was rolled out.

At one of the halls for domestic arrivals at the airport, a score of well-wishers from all the nooks and crannies of Cameroon, members of government, members of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) and other dignitaries had gathered to pay their last respect to Mama Rosette.

In a mass, the Apostolic Administrator of the Yaounde Archdiocese, His Lordship Jean Mbarga urged mourners to have faith that the deceased will resurrect with Christ on the last day. Mgr Jean Mbarga said the mass aimed to welcome the corpse of Mrs Mboutchouang Rosette Marie, bless it while dedicating it to the Lord for eternal rest.

Banners from different families and groups expressed the mourning state of the population. Family members carried a chest pin which reads “From 1954 to 2014, Mama Rosette, you will always remain in our hearts”.
