Finance Minister defends four bills

The speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has chaired a special plenary session in which four bills were studied and adopted.

The four bills relating to economic issues were adopted at Ngoa Nkelle Glass House, this Monday March 30, 2015.

The four bills were defended by the Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey.

1. The first bill authorised the President of the Republic to ratify the protocol establishing preferential tariff schemes to facilitate trade among member countries of the organisation of the Islamic World.

2. The second was to ratify an ordinance of December 2014 relating to the mobilisation of resources for the implementation of the three-year growth acceleration plan amounting to FCFA 925 billion.

3. The third targeted seven main sectors in the economy but was contested by the SDF parliamentary group but despite an SDF vote to push forward this particular bill, a vote of majority permitted the adoption of the bill.

4. The fourth bill authorised the President of the Republic to ratify the organisation for economic operation and development convention on mutual administrative assistance.

In the meantime, a private member bill to lay down rules governing the protection and preservation of water catchments and water shades in the country presented this Tuesday 31st March 2015 by Members of the Committee of Production and Trade will be studied at the National Assembly.

The Private Member’s bill was tabled before the committee by the Honorable Cyprian Awudu Mbaya of the Social Democratic Front, SDF.

Still on this parliamentary session, two bills, one on audiovisual activities and the other to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the corporation agreement in the field of security signed between the government of Cameroon and Turkey.
