First Batch of Mathematics Institute Graduates Today

The event will be presided over by Professor Maurice Tchuente, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Buea in Limbe on July 10, 2014.

Students studying Mathematical Sciences at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS-CAMEROON) will be in a festive mood today July 10, 2014. This follows the graduation ceremony of 36 pioneer students of the institution.

According to a statement in which the Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of Academic Orders, informs the University community, the national and international public about this important event, amongst the 36 graduating students are 12 girls, 12 Cameroonians coming from 12 African countries.

Representing the Minister of Higher Education at the ceremony is Professor Maurice Tchuente, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Buea. It is worthy to note that Pr. Maurice Tchuente is a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science and Head of the International Research Laboratory in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics in the Faculty Sciences of the University of Yaounde I.

On February 2014, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, carried out the official launching of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Yaounde, in the presence of three Nobel Prize Winners (Physics and Mathematics). The institution also intends to put in place, in partnership with the government of Cameroon, an African Centre for Quantum Studies.
