First Lady Chantal Biya receives New Year wishes

The annual ceremony to present New Year wishes to First Lady Chantal Biya by wives of the members of the Diplomatic Corps and National Dignitaries.

Female Ministers, Senators, Members of Parliament, Top government functionaries and wives of personalities ranking as such, business women, special guests of the First Lady and Ladies who have made a positive influence on the Cameroonian society were part of the ceremony at the main residence of the Unity Palace.

The ceremony void of speeches began with the diplomatic corps. Mrs. Ratsiborinskaya Elena, wife of the Russian Ambassador to Cameroon, handed a bouquet of flowers to Mrs Chantal BIYA. A series handshakes and photo sessions with the different women present charaterised the ceremony.

National dignitories composed of 26 other delegations, made up of the wives of the national constituted bodies, and special guests later presented their best wishes and took photographs with the First Lady.

First Lady Chantal Biya also received best wishes from wives of the members of the ruling CPDM, members of CERAC and representatives of some NGOs.

The innovation in this year\'s event is the presence of representatives of the indigenes of the Baka and Bororo communities.
