First Lady receives flowers from wives of diplomatic corps

Chantal Biya received last Friday, New Year greetings from the wives of the diplomatic and national corporate bodies.

As expressed in Frank Michael's song "All women are beautiful", the palace was awash with beautiful women.

Thousands of women from all walks of life came to say "Happy New Year" to the first lady of Cameroon, Chantal Biya. She received the New Year greetings of the wives of the diplomatic corps and national bodies.

In a red and white decoration that perfectly matched the occasion, the day was spectacular for the thousands of guests of the first lady who were represented in a total of 25 delegations.

This delegation of the wives of the diplomatic corps, led by Ms Milat, wife of the Ambassador of Algeria and dean of the diplomatic corps, opened the series of exchanges. In a relaxed atmosphere, Chantal Biya received her guests. These distinguished women were all members of the diplomatic group called the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (Cerac).

Despite the fact that, some were already accustomed to this ceremony, one could tell from their faces in the group picture taken after the programme, that they were excited about being part of the session.

The second phase of the ceremony which was specially reserved for the wives of members of the national body was opened by Marcel Niat. This session featured prominently photo-taking amongst the ladies. The air was filled with tunes played by local artists amidst the exchanges and photo taking.

The first lady received messages from her guests. Also present at the session were; Kareyce Fotso, Linda Raymonde, Richard Amougou, Richard Band Zoetele John Duchant, Sergeo Polo.

A gift of bouquet of flowers was presented. The message attached read: "Happy New Year! Madam First Lady"; "We endorse your fight for peace"; "Our heart is with our defense forces"; " We are in support of President Paul Biya's attempt to foster peace."

This session ended in the evening with so much excitement that it was clear they all anticipated the next edition of this wonderful gathering.
