The 13th Ordinary session of the Regional Commission for fishing in the gulf of Guinea has opened in Yaounde. During the current session, experts shall focus on drafting a regional fishing project.
Apart from the regional fishing project, experts are also drawing up a manual for budgeting operations with the ultimate goal of stimulating growth within the sector.
According to projections, the project if properly implemented will lead to more jobs creation, more revenue for the actors and quality nutrition for the population.
The Regional commission, to proceed, began with a scrutiny of the problems hindering fish production in the continent.
Another major issue that poses as an impediment to the development of the sector is illegal fishing.
Committee members have engaged to seek lasting solutions to these and other problems within the sector provided member countries of the Region undertake to allocate an annual fund to address the problems.
