The presidential couple has donated some gifts worth 100 million CFA Francs to some flood victims of the Dugu locality in the Mayo Danay division of the Far North region.
These gifts were donated to some 2,464 persons from 365 families who had been forced out of their homes by floods.
These flood victims who had resettled in the Begue Palam after the flood of 19th September 2014, have been living in precarious conditions, that is lack of food, poor hygienic conditions, prevalence of diseases like malaria.
The consignment of gifts which is worth 100 million FCFA was handed by the Governor of Far North, Midjiyawa Bakari. These victims received 1060 bags of rice, 200 bags of flour, 200 cartons of washing soap, 300 cartons of vegetable oil, and five cows.
It is the second time within one week that the flood victims are receiving substantial gifts from the presidential couple.
The first consignment of gifts was handed on 25th September 2014 by the Minister of Economic Planning and Regional Development, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi who represented President Biya.
The Governor alleged that rehabilitation work on river Logone will begin in January 2015.
