Facebook account called 'the Cameroonian army' has been closed and its creator placed under arrest. The creator of the page, Fondja Amougou was arrested on the night of 26-27 September 2014 in the Cameroonian capital after several days of search by the Cameroonian defense forces.
Last week, this usurper of identity issued a photo of the leader of Boko Haram, announcing the death of Shekau Aboubakar by the Cameroonian army. The Nigerian Army, who was pleased to have finally killed the most wanted man of Nigeria, was embarrassed by this publication which was believed by many that it was rather the Cameroonian army which killed him.
Created in June 2012 and with nearly 3,000 friends before its closure last week, "the Cameroonian army" page, broadcast news about imaginary victories of the Cameroonian soldiers on the front, in the far north.
"The Cameroonian army makes incursion in Nigeria... a Base of Boko Haram destroyed and the pick-up of the mounted police recovered", can be read on his publication of July 15, 2014, for example.
This information failed to create a diplomatic incident and the Nigerian army spokesman had denied the news that the site "the Cameroonian army" disseminated.
