Foreign partners train Cameroonian lecturers

Lead Higher Institute is seeking to strengthen cooperation with international institutions.

A 25-strong delegation from foreign higher institutions has been at the Biyem-Assi, Yaounde-based Lead Higher Institute since Monday, March 9, 2015, to train its lecturers.

They are from Development Associates International, Colorado, USA and the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC. The training ends on Thursday March 12, 2015.

Among recent guests to the school was Prof. Paul Ghoghomu Mingo, the Director of Cabinet in the Prime Minister’s Office, who came to encourage the management. According to the institute’s founder and Director, Dr. Daniel Shu, the visit comes at a time the need for locally-trained manpower is on the increase.

The training seeks to impact Cameroon lecturers for better productivity in the school. Dr. Daniel Shu explained that the training of Cameroonian lecturers will ease communication between them and students.

In partnership with the University of Bamenda and other international universities and organisations, Lead Higher Institute is looking forward to starting more professional diploma programmes. Harold Overstreet, the school’s Administrative Director of the Master’s Degree Programme, disclosed that a new Master’s in Leadership will soon go operational.

Asked what Lead stands to gain by collaborating with other universities and international organisations, Dr. Daniel Shu reiterated the notion of international recognition. Meanwhile, the visit of the delegates coincided with the institute’s graduation ceremony.

The first batches of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree are now ready for the job market, Pastor Francis Kimeng, the Head of Department of International Development, disclosed.

Lead Higher Institute was founded in 2011 on the campus of the Cameroon Evangelical Faculty of Theology (FACTEC) as part of the Francophone University of International Development (FUID). It has since gone autonomous and is now placed under the academic supervision of the University of Bamenda and other foreign schools.
