The warning was sounded during the 72nd session of the commission that held at the Higher Teachers Training College, ENS Yaoundé, recently.

Speaking at the session, the Director of Academic Affairs Coordination, Professor Wilfred Gabsa, said they have identified about 7000 fake certificates since the commission was created. He also promised that things are changing soon and these fraudsters will soon be prosecuted.

The commission has so far evaluated 223 certificates from 29 foreign countries, with only one fake diploma. Applicants for certificate evaluation are Cameroonians who studied abroad and on return are willing to use their certificates to be promoted or integrated into the public service.

In some cases, the Minister dispatches a team to go to various countries; Nigeria, Chad, Central African Republic and Europe, work with the institution that trains and which can evaluate if the certificate is fake or not.

He also pointed out that the Ministry is not responsible for the delay of documents as they dispatched the documents to the schools for verification immediately they are received. He continued by praising the diplomatic services and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for helping the Commission to authenticate the diplomas and ensure that the files reached their schools.
