Former Min of Justice appointed as PBD at Cmr Dev't Corp

The appointment of Former Minister of Justice, Benjamin Itoe, took place August 1, 2014. The Presidential Decree of Friday August 1, puts an end to the vacancy in the office of the president of the Board of Directors at CDC, a vacancy which occurred March 5, 2014, after the death of the PBD, Atah Okia Namata Elangwe.

The new PBD, Benjamin Itoe Mutanga, is a judge and has on several times been one Minister or another in Cameroon. Born September 23, 1942 in bombe-Kumba in the southwest region, Benjamin Itoe did his university studies in Lagos before enrolling at Enam in Yaoundé in 1968. After leaving ENAM in September 1969, he was appointed Deputy to the Prosecutor of Buea judges. Meanwhile in the Government, he has been Minister of transport (1984) and Minister of justice (1985).

He finds the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), corporate agribusiness as the 2nd employer in Cameroon after the State. The CDC is the second employer in the country behind the State and the largest employer in the private sector in Cameroon (in front of the sugar company of Cameroon which has 7,000 employees), with 22,000 employees who grow 21,970 hectares of rubber, 14,990 hectares of oil palm and 4 920 hectares of banana.
