John Fru Ndi, National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, has said that if the Fon of Nso versus Mayor Njong imbroglio is escalating this far, it is because Fon Sehm Mbinglo I of Nso, who was admired for his political neutrality, has unprecedentedly embraced politics tooth and nail.

The SDF chieftain made the statement over the weekend at his Ntarinkon residence in Bamenda.

Fru Ndi said he has been following the conflict with great interest all this while and will visit Kumbo very soon to intervene on the issue.

“Fon Sehm Mbinglo I of Nso stood under a sacred tree at former Mbveh Motor Park and declared for the CPDM party, calling on his subjects to toe the line by voting his party; CPDM,” Fru Ndi castigated.

He disclosed that he had since the 1990s warned North West fons to stay off politics so as to be able to manage their respective fondoms in total neutrality; without fear or favour, but Fon Sehm Mbinglo I of Nso like a number of North West traditional rulers have decided to embrace politics.

Having embraced politics and most especially CPDM, Fru Ndi added, Fon Mbinglo like others have decided to hate their subjects who militate in other parties.

On the management of water in Kumbo which is the bone of contention between the Fon and mayor, Fru Ndi insisted that it is the council and not traditional authorities who are better placed to manage water in all municipalities.
