GCE O,A level exams kick off hitch free nationwide

The written part of certificate examinations organised by the General Certificate of Education (GCE) board, have kicked off with any hitches reported nationwide.

The exams began the different examinations centres at 8 am this Monday 30th May 2016 nationwide.

Candidates of the Ordinary Level begin with Economic paper one and those of the Advance Level also began with Economic Paper one. At the end of the first day of writing, officials have expressed satisfaction with the turnout and punctuality of candidates.

At the different centres in Yaounde, measures are taken to ensure that every candidate who registered sits for the examination even if their names do not appear on the lists pending verification, but such candidates fill a special form and a report is attached to their examination papers.

Candidates on their part have expressed satisfaction with after end of the first day of writing. Most of them say the exams where within reach and they hope the other papers will be as easy.

Invigilators say no cases of fraud have been identified but that continue to be on the watch till the last day of the exams.

The candidates are expected to written the GCE examinations for about one month, with three courses scheduled daily. The written part comes about one month after the start of practical examinations for science students at the Advance Level and Food and Nutrition candidates at the Ordinary level.

Final results are expected to be released sometime in August.

In the meantime, candidates sitting the Baccalaureate in the French sub system, the equivalent of the GCE Advance Levels have also begun writing the certificate exams.
