Practical examinations for the 2013 General Certificate of Education, (GCE) Advanced level began yesterday nationwide in all the internal and external accommodation centres. Reports from some of the examination centres in Yaounde indicate that the practical session is moving on well with no major incident noted.

GCE Advanced Level students are currently undergoing the Chemistry practical in various examination laboratories. According to the Principal of Government Bilingual High School in the Essos neighbourhood in Yaounde, Paul Ebone Tiku, the Chemistry practical will run until Saturday May 11. Yesterday, Tuesday May 7, by 7:30 a.m., Paul Ebone said the internal and external candidates undertaking the practical were already at the school premises. He added that external candidates are coming from institutions such as Shakespeare Bilingual Secondary School, Cameroon School of Excellence and Nono Bilingual College all in Yaounde.

No complaint was registered from candidates as the principal said all of them had their acceptance slips and identification papers which permitted the practical to begin on time. At the Government Bilingual Practising High School in Yaounde, the Vice Principal, Patrice Njiki said the examination centre which also accommodates external candidates from Mbalmayo began the practical session on a good footing with no problem noted.

During a recent meeting of officials of the Ministry of Secondary Education to make a balance sheet of the school year which is ending and to measure the extent to which the ministry is ready to confront the end-of-year official examinations, the Registrar of the GCE Board, Humphrey Monono Ekema said everything has been put in place to ensure that the practical examination sails hitch-free until the written part of the examination which has been programmed to run from May 21 to June 14, 2013.
