As the examination date draws nearer, students are burning midnight oil in order to make it.
The Cameroon General Certificate of Education Examination Board (CGCEB) swung into action for 2015 since May 5 with practicals of the GCE across the country.
What is new this year includes additional time for impaired candidates, improved security, increase in the number of candidates and the introduction of Advanced Level English Language.
The Board expects to test 180,236 candidates (among them 30 special need candidates or physically-challenged students), giving a relative candidate increase of 9.4 per cent from last year.
The examinations will be conducted in 1,200 accommodation (writing) centres in all the 10 Regions of Cameroon under the supervision of 9,000 invigilators. Candidates for the Technical GCE began writing on May 21, 2015.
Meanwhile, candidates for the GCE General Education will start their written examinations on 1 June. To man all these, the Registrar of the GCE Board, though masterly and serene, is certainly missing many hours of sleep in order to avert any hitches.
