The written session of GCE certificate examinations organised by the GCE Board in Douala has so far seen satisfactory conducts from candidates. No late coming has been noticed across the Exam Centres as reported by Cameroon Tribune on their visit to the examination center on the morning of Monday, May 26.
At the Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) Deido Centre where 3.056 candidates from various institutions in the economic capital are to write the entire 2014 GCE exams, Ordinary level (O/L) candidates for English Literature Paper 1 and Advanced Level (A/L) candidates for Economics Paper 1 were all setup before the official starting time 8 am Monday, May 26.
Immediately the exams started, the campus became so quiet that any visitor could reason to know that some serious business was going on in the halls.
The Chief of Exam Centre and the Principal roamed the campus for about an hour to check any cases of late coming and the general conduct of the start of exams.
At the end of the first subject at 9:30 am, there was neither any case of malpractice nor any major incident.
In GBHS New Bell, where all candidates were on time, invigilators were schooled during a sensitisation session on Friday on how to behave in exam halls, check candidates, seize all unauthorized materials and instruments like cellphones, as well as fraud. The written session will end on June 10 for the O/L and June 12 for the A/L.
Practical sessions of the exam took place earlier on in May 6 to 24 with science students examines in the areas of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Computer Sciences and ICT as well as Food and Nutrition in some centres in Douala.
