Thousands of candidates in secondary and high schools in the country are set for the examinations.

Candidates for the General Certificate of Education, GCE, Ordinary and Advanced Levels as well as those for Baccalaureate Diploma will begin writing the 2014/2015 official examinations today June 1, 2015 in all examination centres across the country.

Officials of both exams say all is set to ensure a hitch-free 2014/2015 examination conduct. The examinations will begin as early as 7:30 am today in all the examination centres in the country.

At the Cameroon Baccalaureate Board in Yaounde officials say they are satisfied with the preparations ahead of BAC examinations in some 1,000 examinations centres in the country.

Working alongside with the Ministry of Defence, the Board has taken stringent measures to ensure safety in high insecurity zones. In a bid to reinforce security, a source at the Cameroon Baccalaureate Board says each day all exams will end at 4:00 pm and external candidates will wear a special badge that carries their names and effigy.

In an interview Cameroon Tribune earlier conducted with the Registrar of the Cameroon GCE Board, Humphrey Monono Ekema, the Board has also improved on security and the testing of physically-challenged candidates according to regulations governing candidates with impairments.

In total, GCE board has recruited almost 9,000 invigilators to supervise exams this year. Most GCE candidates Cameroon Tribune met yesterday said they were fully prepared to write the exams which they do not just want to succeed but succeed with distinction.
