The main labour movement of Cameroon will renew its governing bodies during an ordinary general meeting which will be held in Douala.
GICAM will hold its ordinary general meeting on 18 December in Douala with the order of the day, the election of a new Executive Board.
Although applicants are not yet manifested, many in the business community argue that the current president of the organisation, André Fotso, elected president in December, 2011 for a term of three years could run for a second term.
The Executive Council which will come out of the General Assembly of December 18 will have a term of five years according to proposals voted by GICAM on March 26, 2014. It was during an extraordinary general meeting which also approved other measures: the introduction of a measure in the articles promoting the involvement of entrepreneurs in the diaspora; the introduction of flexibility in the composition of the Executive Council; the flexibility in the conduct of general meetings, the increase in the duration of the mandate of the Executive Board from 3 to 5 years; and limitation of governance in two terms.
