GIZ launches new programme to boost aptitude at work

The German Development Organisation, GIZ, has launched a new personnel programme dubbed “One Mainstreaming the Well Being of Personnel,” 1MSBE.

The programme is a mechanism aimed at boosting the performance of personnel at work, launched on October 3 at GIZ Head Office in Yaounde.

Speaking to reporters, the Centre Regional Director of GIZ, Andreas Kalf, said the programme is an organisational development strategy that will integrate investment subjects such as health and the wellbeing of staff and all other activities of GIZ in Cameroon.

“The wellbeing of workers is, therefore, a vector of positive transformation of the organisation because it leads to improved performance, productivity and increases human resource output. All these initiatives will be important measures to help GIZ evaluate the vital riches in its personnel resources,” he said.

He added that 1MSBE will help GIZ take up future challenges and will also permit GIZ Cameroon to have competent strong human capital.

According to Kalf, the new programme, in a long run, will promote an environment of human labour where everyone will respect their role, task and functions, contribute to a cultural know-how that will permit the maintenance of communication and the respect of mutual esteem for everyone.

“It will also increase social engagement and visibility of the enterprise,” he stated.

Going by Kalf, the four main pillars of the programme, 1MSBE, include; promoting dialogue and team spirit in GIZ, promoting a healthy life for it workers through the provision of potable water, respect of the Anti-tobacco Law Code, ensure workers do regular sport that will help them live in a stress-free environment.

There is also the assurance of a career plan and reinforcement of human resource capacity such as linguistic capacity, personnel output in their various domains and ensuring that job satisfaction is achieved amongst workers.

The last pillar of the IMSBE programme is the reinforcement of social security which includes; assurance of medical care, retirement benefits and the formation of good economic conditions.

“All these are long term engagements of GIZ strategic management of human resources,” he added.

Other activities to mark the launch were tackled in the form of panel discussions. Points of discussions centred on the role of insurance in a working environment, how to improve on working environment and prevent the Ebola virus and the allocation of family and retirement benefits.
