The 12th Ordinary Session of the Summit of heads of state of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), subjected to several postponements due to a busy agenda of leaders of the six member countries of the organization (Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic and Chad), will finally open on Tuesday in Libreville, CEMAC revealed a statement copied to APA on Monday May 4, 2015.

Summoned by the Gabonese head of state, Ali Bongo Ondimba who is also current chairman of CEMAC, the two day (5-6 May) summit is expected to debate issues including the crisis in the Central African Republic (CAR), a member country which also hosts the CEMAC headquarters and where rebel groups maintain chronic instability which has a negative impact on the smooth running of the sub-regional organization.

Because of activities of armed groups in CAR, CEMAC has been forced to temporarily relocate its headquarters from Bangui to Libreville, the Gabonese capital.

Issues related to the smooth running of CEMAC will also be considered during the summit which will start its work immediately after the opening on Monday in Bangui, and the National Reconciliation Forum sessions intended to seek ways to bring sustainable peace in CAR.
