The topic was at the centre of a meeting initiated by the sub-prefect of this administrative unit. Due to the insecurity of the time, linked to repetitive and rampant abductions and attacks perpetrated in the country by the Islamist sect Boko Haram, security issues have become a major concern of the authorities.

It was in this state of affairs that the sub-prefect of the District of Garoua II, François Mabaya Essomba, took concerted action to strengthen and revitalise local vigilance committees in his administrative district, particularly in this period of popular jubilation, related to the conduct of the AFCON 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.

This meeting chaired by the Deputy, Tizi Haman, gathered the municipal magistrates, elements of the police, municipal councillors, Ministers of worship and traditional leaders.

The administrative authority immediately brought to the knowledge of its guests the high hierarchy instructions for special measures to be taken to counteract the phenomenon of Boko Haram which, for some time now has undermined the peace and serenity within the region.

Among other things, it was prescribed to some and others to redouble their vigilance, before, during and after the 2015 AFCON, to organize foot patrols in places of large gatherings of people to fish out suspects.
