The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Jean-Baptiste Bokam, has on behalf of President Paul Biya and Defence Minister, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo'o congratulated the outgoing Interior Security Attaché at the French Embassy to Cameroon, Colonel Philippe Cuynet for his contribution to the modernization of Cameroon's National Gendarmerie. This was during a farewell ceremony in Yaounde on August 30, 2013 organized in honour of the departing Colonel who goes back to France to work in the Department of International Cooperation in Nanterres. The Department's key mission is to manage external crises.

Colonel Philippe Cuynet during his three-year stay in Cameroon beginning September 2010 worked to strengthen Cameroon-France military cooperation with outstanding results being the modernization of Cameroon's National Gendarmerie in particular and aligning it to international standards. The departing colonel, the Gendarmerie boss said, finalized the process of the maturation of Judicial Police Training Centre, CPPJ and the Training Centre for Peacekeeping Techniques at Awae. Thanks to the technical assistance of French experts and the active involvement Colonel Philippe Cuynet, he said, the CPPJ has contributed to strengthening the State of law in Cameroon through specialized trainings and Gendarmerie operational structures.
