Goethe Institute in Yaoundé host first edition of 'Camac Days'

The Camac Association recently organized two days at the Goethe Institute in Yaoundé to reflect the vitality of the cultural journalist in the newsroom.

Around perfect Tabapsi, president of the Cameroon Art Critics (Camac), members of the association gathered December 16 and 17, at the Goethe Institute in Yaoundé on the occasion of the first edition of 'Camac Days' which was dedicated at looking at the future of cultural journalist in the newsroom.

In the opinion of the panelists - among other artists, cultural promoters, essays, critical officials and journalists - invited to this reflection, there are hints of hope.

Culture, willy nilly, exist. And although it must struggle to survive, cultural activity manages to accompany players in their first steps and their various projects. Last Tuesday the first panel artists also acknowledged: without professional cultural journalists, they could never realize their dreams. Sanzy Viany, the singer revealed: "my debut with the media has not been easy. But I am what I am because I met journalists in professional ethics. Today, they are like members of my family."

Journalists talk about performance art such as profane, from the outside. We feel that there has not been research. Very often they mirror the press kit and it is a bit disappointing. » How to go further than simple reviews of shows? This is the reason for these "Camac Days", brought by the Camac created in 2010.

The echo of this event wants to lead on a Charter of cultural journalist, professionals able to understand, to marry the essence of a show, a film, a work of art, a book. And finally exceed the status of any short to become a genuine cultural journalist.
