This was one of the points that came under discussion on June 30, 2015, in Yaounde during the 2nd Electoral Board meeting.

Board members of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM, yesterday June 30, 2015, met in Yaounde in their 2nd ordinary session for 2015. The Electoral Board meeting that held at the Mont Febe Hotel was chaired by the President of the Board, Dr. Fonkam Samuel Azu’u.

Even though much information did not filter out from the Electoral Board meeting that held behind closed-door, preparations for the Sixth National Consultation Forum between the elections management body (ELECAM) and other stakeholders in the electoral process featured prominently on the agenda.

According to concordant information Cameroon Tribune gathered, the forum shall hold on July 9, 2015 at the Yaounde Conference Centre under the theme, “Revision of voters’ registers: synergy between Stakeholders of the electoral process”. Tuesday’s board meeting also examined and adopted resolutions relating to the modification of internal regulations of Elections Cameroon as well as personnel statutes.

Apart from examining the execution of the Board’s resolution by the Directorate General that was represented in the Board meeting by the Deputy Director General of Elections, Dr Erik Essousse, minutes of the October 23, 2015 and 23 June, 2015 sessions were also adopted.

It should be recalled that the Electoral Board meeting of June 23, 2015, evaluated the on-going voter revision exercise in the country during which the Board commended the youths for showing more concern in the process with about 73.4 per cent newly registered voters ranging between 20 to 35 years old. As at 22 June 2015, figures from ELECAM indicate that some 147,299 newly registered voters have been recorded on the electoral list and the revision exercise is to end on August 31, 2015, as per the electoral code.
