Gov’t bans Kamto’s party from holding political rallies

The Divisional Officer, DO of Douala V has banned the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM, political party of Maurice Kamto from holding political rallies in his jurisdiction.

Jean Marie Tchakui Noundie issued the ban following a declaration by the party’s official, of intentions to hold rallies during which petitions for the “consensual modification” of the electoral code were to be written.

The DO, in the ban note, addressed to Daniel Nouboussi, Communal Federation Secretary of the CRM for Douala V, prohibited the party from organizing planned rallies in the Parcour Vita, Rhone Poulene and Antenne neighbourhoods in Douala this month.
