Despite the existence of many displaced people, the coordination Committee noted progress in the tasks assigned by the Head of State.

On behalf of the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the colonel Jackson Kamgain, Director of military engineering at the Department of Defense, spoke on behalf of the head of this Department about the dikes built along the Logone and Maga. However, the Member of the Government wanted just to inquire and ensure that the work is done as instructed by the Head of State.

The senior officer, who followed the work in the field work wanted to be reassured. The level of recorded rainfall in 1992 kept the populations in flooding which resulted in the massive displacement of inhabitants. The president of the Republic has thus taken urgent measures to curb the situation.

Moreover, colonel Kamgain said that Cameroonian dams were built on the model of the best in the world, found in countries like the United States of America: the essential residing in maintenance of these structures. That remains the main challenge of the Cameroonian government.

In the Conference Room of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and decentralization (Minatd), the 5th session of the Committee for coordination and management of assistance and emergency relief for affected populations by flooding in the far North and Northern regions recently took place. Under the chairmanship of René Emmanuel Sadi, half a dozen members of the Government reviewed the problems that came up.

Thousands of people have been recently displaced following heavy rains which fell in the Benue and Logone-and-Chari. For each problem that arose, René Emmanuel Sadi ensured urgent measures were put in place to solve it; sometimes through the resources of the Committee he chaired.

Indications have been given also that agricultural production is not threatened. In short, the Government now intends to respond to the problems that arise and deal with them appropriately.
