Gov't offers FCFA 27m to Baworo victims

Nigerian herdsmen recently made an incursion into the border village in Menchum Division. The border area of Baworo and neighbourhoods of Efong, Badu, Ambu, Okenake and Banjini in Menchum Valley Subdivision, Menchum Division of the North West Region, spent September 9, 2014, praising the government for generosity and concern.

The event was the reception of financial and material gifts worth about FCFA 27 million from President Paul Biya through the Governor of North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique. T

he homeless victims recently had their crops and property destroyed by invading Nigerian herdsmen. Governor Lele Lafrique presented FCFA 6,232,000 in school needs, FCFA 3,645,000 in farm tools and FCFA 4,330000 for other expenses. He promised that studies were on course to reconstruct destroyed schools in the neighbourhood.

The Mayor of Benakuma Council, Num Elias Ihimbru, saluted the return of peace, thanks to President Biya’s decision to create a military detachment in

Baworo, reinforced from the 62nd Motorised Infantry Brigade in Nkambe in Donga-Mantung Division. He lauded the special consideration given Benakuma in the recruitment of Parent Teacher Association, PTA teachers and condemned the regular transfer of teachers from the area without replacement.

The Governor took advantage of the visit to launch the academic year in the strategic Baworo border area with an appeal for stakeholders to remain vigilant in the face of the Ebola virus and Boko Haram threats.

Responding, Chief Ihimbru Bache of Badu village saluted the Head of State for what he described as “gifts that rekindle hope, an initiative that brings comfort and reinforces the commitment of inhabitants to stand solidly by the government.”

Among the beneficiaries, the families of Ihimbru James, Oteh Joseph Bache, Bache Andreas, Karana Raymond, Ihimbru Emmanuel and Ihimbru Zacchaeus took home FCFA 500,000 each in compensation for burnt or destroyed property.

Chief Ihimbru Emmanuel of Badu village also got 125 roofing sheets while Kudi Collins, who had his motorcycle burnt during an official assignment with security forces, received a new bike.
