Gov't to fine tune teacher-training courses

The second Joint Management Council of TTCs and TTTCs opened in Yaounde on October 2, 2014.

Their quest is to ensure sound training of teachers in teacher training colleges is a major preoccupation of government. In spite of major actions undertaken by government to ensure adequate training in these institutions, they are still currently confronted with challenges.



It is in this light that the second Joint Management Council of Teacher Training and Technical Teacher Training Colleges opened at the Government Technical High School in Nkolbisson, Yaounde yesterday October 2, 2014.



The theme of this year is; “Professionalization of initial and continuing education of teachers: guarantee for quality education at the service of an emerging Cameroon by 2035”.

Speaking at the opening, the Secretary of State for Secondary Education, Mounouna Foutsou, called on teachers to be committed and devoted during the deliberations to come out with concrete proposals which will be implemented in programmes for the development of teaching in teacher training colleges.



The objective of the meeting was to propose strategies for the professionalization of initial and continuing education in teacher training colleges.



For two days, participants will examine major projects such as adopting effective measures for continuous training of teachers, propose new strategies for better organisation of teacher training competitive examination, revisit and validate new programmes for teacher training colleges, acquisition of didactic materials and the relationship between schools and the job milieu, among others.
