The Cameroonian Government has announced measures to mitigate the adverse effects of the increase of the fuel prices entered into force Tuesday, learnt APA.

Apart from maintaining the price (350 CFA FRANCS) per litre of kerosene prices, he decided the reduction of 50% of the amount of the withholding tax, from the tax on the axle as well as the parking fee.

It also aims to upgrade the salaries of public officials, to start immediately to the joint consultations for the upgrading of the guaranteed minimum inter-occupational wage (SMIG).

Through the upgrading of the cost of fuel at the pump as well as household gas, several times postponed, the State government indicated to have wanted to practice the truth of prices so as not only to secure it to the international market fluctuations, but also to significantly reduce subsidies for which it spent 157 billion CFA FRANCS for the first half of this year alone.

For the drivers union, which have already called for a work stoppage for an indefinite period from July 7, the demonstration of the authorities is a deceit and of bad faith.
