Koumpa Issa recently presided over the closing ceremony of a symposium which built a lot on the military history of the country. During the event, the public had the opportunity to gauge the enthusiasm of researchers and Cameroonian historians.

We retained during this event that PR. Daniel Abwa and his colleagues enhanced the rich Cameroonian military memory. And regarding this, many themes were addressed by these scholars.

During the work carried out in workshops, the public learned a lot on the Great War in Cameroon. Communications passed from the colonial period to the assertion of a national identity: sketch of reconstruction of a process of social change of deterministic type to the First World War and erosion of the prestige of the french colonizer in Cameroon.

In addition, the Douala meeting allowed for the laying of the groundwork for the 42nd Congress of the international commission of military history that Cameroon will host in 2016.

Military history revisited by eminent specialists illustrates the importance accorded by the Cameroonian authorities to the knowledge of the past facts.

When deciding on the Organization of the first national symposium on military history, the top of the State allowed the youth to have useful information, able to help those who want to pursue a career in the defence forces.
