The date for the competitive entrance examination into Cycle I and Cycle II of the newly created Higher Technical Teachers Training College, HTTTC, of the University of Buea, UB has been pushed again from October 11 to December 6, 2014. This is the fallout of a consultative meeting of the University of Buea which held on Monday September 29, 2014.

This is the second time the date of the exams is changed. Many believe that it is evidence of the difficulties of kick-starting the baby school that has Prof. Joyce Endeley Bongo as its pioneer provost.

According to a communiqué signed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea Prof. Nalova Lyonga, displayed on the University’s website, the change has been necessitated to ensure that all candidates in the eleven centres in the country should have access to the examination.

All attempts by this reporter to get through to the provost of HTTTC Kumba, Prof. Joyce Endeley to comment on the issue were futile. However, speaking to the Median some few months ago, Prof. Joyce Endeley sounded optimistic that the school was definitely going to start in October.

Despite the delay in the writing of the competitive examination, the school is visibly ready for take-off any time in terms of buildings and workshops likewise the administrative staff.

It should be noted that HTTTC was created by a Presidential decree No 2014/090 of 7th March, 2014.

It should be mentioned that the entrance exam into the HTTTC Kumba were postponed just as the results of the exams into HTTTC Bambili, Bamenda have been released.
